What’s next?
Subject-specific assessments. Once these two items have been completed, you will be notified to log in to Canvas to complete any required subject-specific skills assessments. The assessments required are tailored specifically to you and the courses you have selected. They will not be graded, but will help us determine the appropriate course placements for you. Course placements for students who submit skills assessments and course selections by the end of May will be available on the GS Parent Portal by mid-July.
Summer assignments. Every student will have a summer assignment for English. All summer assignments will appear on Canvas once course selections are processed and skills assessments are reviewed. For most ninth graders, English is the only summer assignment. Incoming 10th, 11th, and 12th graders may have additional summer assignments for IB and AP classes.
George School email accounts. Email accounts will be assigned to new students by early August. You will be instructed to download and install Microsoft Office (at no charge). Once your George School email account is activated, you will be instructed to complete a Technology Orientation on Canvas.
